Destiny’s Child Singer Michelle Williams Is in College at 47: ‘Your Girl Is Back in School!’

Michelle Williams is hitting the books, and she’s no longer keeping it a secret.

The former Destiny’s Child member revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday, September 22, that she has gone back to college.

“Chiiiiiiiiile, your girl is back in school!!” Williams, 47, wrote.

“I talked myself out of posting this! I didn’t even tell family and friends because of the intrusive thought ‘what if you don’t finish?'” the singer confessed on social media.

But any doubts appeared to be behind her, as she made a promise to her followers: “I’m going to finish and I’m going to finish strong.”

Williams shared that she’s already a sophomore at Regent University, and she had a cheeky explanation for her choice of major. She wrote that she is “studying psychology because y’all need help! LOLOL (just kidding….kinda)[.]”

So far, the experience has been a positive one.

“My advisors and professors have been awesome!!” Williams wrote, before making a request of her fans: “Pray for my endurance and focus!”

Support for her Instagram announcement poured in from the comments section, including from former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland.

“My Love!!! You GOT THIS!!! It goes without saying, my heart is so full!! This is YOUR TIME!” Rowland, 45, wrote.

Fans were just as thrilled, with many adding a dose of humor.

“Should’ve majored in Architecture because you always know how to build a bridge,” one follower joked in a comment that racked up more than 4,000 likes.

Another fan teased, “Dr. Williams in the house ready to… Cater 2 U! JOKING JOKING! I love this!!”

Others pointed to her work ethic. “If you can perform on Broadway every night for over a year, you can definitely do this!” one supporter wrote, while another shared a personal connection to the school.

“My mommy finished her 2nd masters at Regent, in her 50’s! I’m going back now in my late 30’s. You, me, we…all got this!” the fan commented.

Williams made sure her Instagram followers knew she was paying attention, even if her coursework came first.

“I see all the comments and I wanna respond but I gotta go read!! I love you all!!” she replied, adding, “Ps: I’d love some study tips for sure!!”
