Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Accused of Hypocrisy Over Privacy Demands: ‘Stop Broadcasting Your Family’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been accused of hypocrisy over their calls for privacy after sharing intimate videos of their family life following their move back to the UK.

On Friday September 11, the Duchess of Sussex, 45, posted a glimpse into their new life on Instagram, which included scenes of fishing and Princess Lilibet, 5, on a bike alongside their 7-year-old son, Prince Archie.

According to Page Six, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield questioned the couple’s decision to share the footage.

“If privacy is genuinely the priority, the most effective strategy is simple… stop broadcasting your family life to millions of strangers,” she said.

Schofield called the move “striking” in its “hypocrisy,” adding: “You cannot deliberately feed that machine and then act astonished or outraged when people want to know more.”

Royal commentator Tom Sykes also pointed to comments Harry, 41, made in 2017 about the potentially damaging effects of portraying a perfect life on social media.

“Even Harry was able to understand this in 2017 how damaging and fake this kind of performative video is and yet now he is doing the very same thing himself,” Sykes said.

The videos Meghan posted did not show her children’s faces. She has previously spoken about wanting to protect Archie and Lilibet from being photographed while going to school.

In a 2022 interview with The Cut, the former Suits star defended her approach to her children’s privacy.

“Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn’t make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child,” she said.
