Britney Spears‘ blistering comment about estranged dad Jamie Spears‘ health issues has caused an uproar in her family, a source tells Star.
“This is being seen as needlessly cruel by her poor family, not to mention Jamie, who is in very poor health as it is,” the source says of the 73-year-old, who had his right leg amputated in 2021 after spending several weeks in the hospital for a bacterial infection.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, Britney, 44, recalled not being allowed to “travel spontaneously” during her 13-year conservatorship unless she was working.
“I wonder why god took my father’s legs away?” the Princess of Pop sniped, per Reality Tea.
“He’s given up on Britney ever forgiving him [and has] accepted that their relationship is over,” the source continues. “But it’s still very hard to have her lash out at him like this publicly with so much rage.”
Britney’s mother Lynn Spears and siblings, sister Jamie Lynn Spears and brother Bryan Spears, “are appalled that she’s taking shots at Jamie when he’s sick,” reveals the source. “But Britney says she has every right to call him out after the hell he put her through.”

In her 2023 memoir The Woman In Me, the “Toxic” singer alleged that her conservatorship robbed her of her freedom.
“I think back now on my father and his associates having control over my body and my money for that long and it makes me feel sick,” she wrote, according to an excerpt published by People.
“She is still so scarred from the conservatorship and she blames him a thousand percent for that,” Star‘s source admits. “She says he stole the best years of her life and she feels no qualms about calling him out. She is very angry and she doesn’t care who knows it.”
