Britney Spears‘ estranged father, Jamie Spears, has been spotted out and about two and a half years after it was reported that his leg had been amputated.

In photos obtained by Page Six on Monday, May 11, the 73-year-old (who, at one point, was the conservator of the pop singer’s estate) wore a classic grey suit at his granddaughter Maddie‘s high school graduation on Friday.

According to the publication, Maddie (whom Britney’s sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, shares with ex Casey Aldridge) graduated from her high school in Hammond, Louisiana.

Others who were there to support Maddie, 17, on her big day included her mom, 35; her grandmother Lynne Spears, 71; her stepfather, Jamie Lynn’s husband Jamie Watson; her 8-year-old sister, Ivey; and her cousin and Britney’s son Sean Preston, 20.

The “Toxic” singer, 44, and her other son, Jayden James, 19, were reportedly absent.

Jamie Lynn was reportedly seen crying as her daughter received her diploma, and Ivey was spotted pushing her grandfather’s wheelchair.

The Grammy Award winner has been estranged from her father for years. Britney was notably placed under a controversial conservatorship in 2008, leading to the #FreeBritney movement, but it was dissolved in 2021. Amid the lengthy legal process, Jamie came under fire for his alleged treatment of the singer.

In the fall of 2023, it was reported that Jamie was hospitalized with a bacterial infection.

“Jamie has been suffering with a bad infection that has required surgery,” a source told Page Six in October of that year. “He has been hospitalized for weeks in a special infectious disease facility.”

In December 2023, People reported that Jamie had his leg amputated about a month prior.

As for Britney, the singer was recently charged by prosecutors in Ventura County, California, with one count of misdemeanor DUI following her arrest earlier this year.

Britney’s attorney Michael A. Goldstein agreed to plead guilty to a “wet reckless” at Ventura Superior Court on May 4, according to People. The singer — who had voluntarily entered rehab — was reportedly not there.

Per the outlet, Britney was sentenced to 12 months summary probation and was fined $571. She must also attend a three-month DUI program, and her vehicle is authorized to be searched for drugs and alcohol. The singer reportedly also agreed to see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.
