Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber are giving serious thought to leaving Hollywood for good in the wake of their son Presley Gerber‘s tragic death, a source tells Star, with longtime family friend George Clooney encouraging the idea every step of the way.
“Can they really continue their lives in L.A., like nothing ever happened?” wonders the source. “Nobody wants to see them make any rash decisions, but Presley’s death has rocked their world.”
The 27-year-old model, who long struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues, died on Sunday, September 20 after suffering an apparent overdose and cardiac arrest at a rehab facility in Santa Monica, People reported.
Rande, 64, and Cindy, 60, have “had relatively quiet and private lives in Hollywood over the last few years,” the source says. “But now, totally unexpectedly, they are in the eye of the storm and no amount of money can bring back what they’ve just lost.”

Fortunately, Rande, Cindy and their 25-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber haven’t been left to deal with Presley’s sudden passing on their own.
“It’s been an all-hands-on-deck moment for their friends, famous and little-known,” reveals the source, including George, 65, and his wife, Amal Clooney, who were photographed arriving at the grieving family’s L.A. home on Tuesday, September 22.
“George is doing his level best to be supportive,” says the source. “But deep down, he has to be blaming Presley’s death on the L.A. lifestyle that [he] himself ran away from more than twenty years ago.”
In 2025, the Ocean’s Eleven star opened up about giving his children, 9-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, “a much better life” by raising them in France. “I was worried about raising our kids in L. A., in the culture of Hollywood,” he told Esquire. “I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”
“George is one of those people who is always advocating for the slower, deeper European lifestyle,” the source adds, and in the wake of Presley’s death, “he absolutely would like to see Rande and Cindy make the same decision.”
