Kelly Osbourne is celebrating eight months of sobriety after revealing she returned to drinking while struggling to cope with the devastating loss of her father, Ozzy Osbourne.

The former reality star, 41, shared the milestone during the Tuesday, September 15 episode of Paul C. Brunson‘s We Need to Talk podcast as she reflected on rebuilding her life following the rock legend’s death in July 2025 at age 76.

“I can honestly say today I’m eight months sober,” Kelly revealed. “I have the most incredible people around me.”

Getting to this point hasn’t been easy for the Fashion Police alum, who admitted her grief became so overwhelming following Ozzy’s death that she relapsed.

“I was a shell of myself,” she recalled. “I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t do anything. I was just empty.”

Kelly said she found herself “broken in every way a human being could possibly be broken” and unable to take care of herself.

“I was at ground zero. I started drinking again,” she revealed. “I lost my mind. I couldn’t handle it.”

Kelly has previously spoken candidly about her history with addiction and recovery, including on Red Table Talk. In April 2021, she revealed in an Instagram Story, per E! News, that she had relapsed after nearly four years of sobriety.

But losing her father brought a kind of grief she said she had never experienced before.

“You don’t understand grief until you’ve really been through it,” Kelly told Brunson. “I’d lost people before that I truly loved, but nothing took me out like losing my dad.”

The experience also changed some of the relationships around her. Kelly revealed that she narrowed her circle after feeling that some friends expected her to move past her grief.

“I lost a lot of friends because people don’t like sadness and they expected me to be over it,” she said. “And I will never be over it. I will never ever be over it.”

More than a year after Ozzy’s death, Kelly admitted she doesn’t expect to ever return to the person she was before losing him.

“I’ve said many times that the girl that I was before my father passed is dead,” she said. “That girl will never come back.”

Kelly added, “I lost not just my father but my best friend, my main protector, my biggest cheerleader, my hero.”
