Brian, 37, was approached by a photographer on Wednesday, September 16, while making a stop at a gas station in Greenville, South Carolina. He was asked how he’s been coping with her death.
In footage obtained by E! News, the actress’s on-again, off-again boyfriend kept his response blunt and to the point, telling the photographer, “How do you think I’m doing?”
After the photographer expressed his condolences, Brian, wearing a yellow T-shirt and backward gray baseball cap, offered a short response before walking away. “Appreciate it. That’s all I got for you, man.”
The brief interaction comes just days after Brian crashed his motorcycle after picking up his brother, Zach Hickerson, from jail earlier this week.
According to photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Brian crashed his Suzuki Hayabusa into the back of a car on Sunday, September 13, while his brother was riding on the back of the motorcycle. Zach, 38, was allegedly thrown from the bike and lost a shoe in the crash.

Brian reportedly left his brother sitting on the curb while he went to exchange insurance information with the other driver, per a report from In Touch.
The crash came after a wild night for the pair, with both brothers being handcuffed on Saturday after getting into an altercation with other patrons at Greenville’s Wild Wing Cafe.
Brian was ultimately released, but Zach, who was said to be “highly intoxicated,” was taken into custody for disorderly conduct, TMZ reported. Zach was not charged, per People, and was later released on a bond of $257.50, according to Greenville County jail records.
“People believe [the rumors], and then they attack as a result,” Zach told the outlet upon his release. “That’s what pisses me off.”

Brian’s gas station commentary also comes on the one-month anniversary of the 36-year-old actress’s death. As Star previously reported, Panettiere was found unresponsive in a Greenville short-term rental apartment shared by the Hickerson brothers.
Despite efforts to resuscitate the Heroes alum, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was later reported by In Touch that Panettiere, who would have turned 37 just five days after her August 16 death, likely ingested oxycodone laced with fentanyl on the day she died.
