Britney Spears’ family and friends just want the best for her.
After the former pop star, 44, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence on Wednesday, March 4, and processed at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, TMZ reported that those in her inner circle hope a judge would choose for her to enter treatment instead of going to jail.
While the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer has not been found guilty of any crime as of time of publication, it appears that her friends and family are concerned for her well-being following the incident.
A representative for the singer told Star that “hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” calling it an “unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.”
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law,” the rep said. “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her,” the rep added of sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline. “Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
TMZ reported that an unknown substance was found in her car, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
The outlet reported that the substance is now being tested and it will be part of the arrest.
Spears was reportedly released from jail around 6 a.m. on Thursday.
The singer — who experienced a public breakdown nearly two decades ago during which her erratic behavior, including shaving her head, made headlines — has previously been in and out of rehab.
The mother of two was transported to the hospital early Thursday morning to have her blood drawn after being pulled over, TMZ also reported.
