Todd Chrisley is known for his memorable quips — and his reaction to finding out President Donald Trump had pardoned him while he was serving time for tax evasion and bank fraud was no different.
In a sneak peek of Todd and wife Julie’s first post-prison interview on My View with Lara Trump — which airs Saturday, June 28th at 9:00 p.m. E.T. on Fox News — the reality star, 56, opened up about the moment he was informed by a correctional officer that he was being released from prison, after initially dismissing another person who had told him the same thing.
“[The officer] goes, ‘Are you good?’ and I said, ‘As good as I can be,’” Todd said in a clip, shared by Fox News on Wednesday, June 25. “And he said, ‘Todd, you just got pardoned, they sent me down here to make sure you’re OK’ — and I said, ‘Well, they don’t need to be worried about me now. Hell, If I’m pardoned, I’m great!'”
“We owe thanks to God,” he continued. “I’m grateful because every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children and he did that, so I’m grateful.”

In the interview, Julie, 52, also recalled learning she was being released during a phone call with daughter Savannah. “I just started busting out crying,” she explained. “Then I just hung up — I was so nervous that I just hung up. It was the craziest thing.”
“Everybody was just looking at me because, unfortunately, most of the news you get in prison is bad news,” the family matriarch continued. “They’re like, ‘Are you ok?’ I’m like, ‘I am! I’m getting out of here, I’m getting out of here!'”
On May 27, President Trump granted the Chrisley Knows Best stars full pardons while Todd was serving a 12-year sentence at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida and Julie was serving seven years at Kentucky’s Federal Medical Center Lexington. The couple share three children — Chase, 29, Savannah, 27, and Grayson, 19 — while Todd is also Dad to Lindsie, 35, and Kyle, 33, who he shares with ex-wife, Teresa Terry. (Todd and Julie adopted Kyle’s daughter Chloe, 12, in 2016.)
Two days after he was released, Todd held a press conference in which he gushed about reuniting with Julie, who he described as a “wonderful, decent, God-fearing woman.”
“It was great to be home,” Todd said at the time. “No matter where that is, as long as she’s there, it’s home.”
