Jennifer Lopez is facing backlash over her recent appearance at the Wimbledon Championships.
Lopez, 56, was on hand at the men’s singles final at the All England Club in London, England, on Sunday, July 12, where she was photographed rocking a chic tan dress for the occasion. Still, it wasn’t Lopez’s outfit that got people talking, but rather the oversized hat she wore with it, with fans wondering if the “On The Floor” singer had made a major fashion faux pas.
Wimbledon’s official X account shared photos of Lopez, who was sitting next to Tom Hiddleston as she watched Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Zverev to win the title for the second consecutive year, sporting a large, tan sunhat.
Though there were lots of comments about the star-studded photo, which also featured Andrew Garfield, users couldn’t help but point out that Lopez’s hat may have blocked the view for attendees sitting behind her.
“What happened to no hats at Wimbledon?” one user wrote, referencing the tournament’s “no hat” rule, which primarily applies to women seated in the exclusive Royal Box. “Ridiculous hat!! She doesn’t know anything about tennis…,” another added.
“@JLo this type of hat is inappropriate for such events! You should do your homework, lady!” another user wrote, with one adding, “@JLo just so you know, with that hat, guests that paid a lot of money to be right there, can’t watch because you like to look good for Instagram.”

Another pointed out that while the hat went well with her outfit, it wasn’t the right accessory for the occasion, suggesting the look would be better suited to something like the Kentucky Derby.
“Love the outfit, just not the hat for this kind of event. First, it looks a bit like a crumpled paper bag. Maybe the Kentucky Derby because it’s a hat show,” the user wrote. “But tennis matches are conservative, crisp, & clean, so the attire should match the sport. You have great hair. Work it.”
Others, meanwhile, came to the Hustlers alum’s defense, noting that she did, in fact, take the hat off later on in the match.
“She took the hat off. People leave this woman alone,” one user wrote, alongside a pic of a hatless Lopez, while another commented, “Big hat energy. JLo looks absolutely adorable!”
