Alex Cooper didn’t build her empire all on her own.
The Call Her Daddyhost, 31, has heavily relied on her podcast producer to build the brand she has today, the Daily Mail reported in a story published on Thursday, October 30.
Cooper’s childhood best friend, Lauren McMullen, revealed on the podcast last July that she was largely responsible for booking and researching guests and even coming up with questions.
Though Cooper has been criticized for her “softball” interview style with celebrities, her provocative, often sexually explicit queries are part of what makes the podcast stand out.
The aspiring therapist agreed to work for her old pal full time for a salary that made her “fall out of her chair,” she added.
The pair are “grateful the secret is out,” a source told the Daily Mail, noting that Cooper hinted that she was hoping to avoid the bad blood she has with Call Her Daddy’s other founder, Sofia Franklyn, who left when their boss, Barstool founder Dave Portnoy, refused to give in to their contract demands.

Cooper then struck a deal without her former friend, and Franklyn revealed she felt “betrayed” in an Instagram post.
Call Her Daddy became one of the most popular podcasts of all time and last year, Cooper signed a deal with SiriusXm for an estimated $125 million, the Daily Mail reported.
“There are people at SiriusXM that don’t love her, but it doesn’t matter. She’s somebody’s cup of tea,” a second source told the outlet.
Now that she’s found massive success, Cooper is relieved that McMullen’s substantial contributions have been revealed, says the first source, so she’s “not hiding” anything anymore.
