Princess Kate’s Family Gives Prince William the ‘Stability, Loyalty, and Normality He Has Craved’

Prince William is not afraid to lean on his in-laws.

A royal insider told journalist Rob Shuter for a Monday, July 6, report in his Naughty But Nice Substack that the Prince of Wales — who has been married to Princess Kate since 2011 — is “incredibly close to the Middletons.”

“They’ve provided the stability, loyalty, and normality he has craved for years,” the royal insider added of Kate’s side of the family. “They aren’t just in-laws anymore — they’re family in every sense.”

William and Kate, both 44, have such a long history together. The couple, who met in 2001 when they were students at St. Andrews University, dated on and off after first becoming romantically linked in 2003.

In 2007, they briefly split, but they were eventually married on April 29, 2011. The future king and queen now share three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte 11, and Prince Louis, 8.

While William’s in-laws have “never wanted the spotlight,” a Naughty But Nice source noted that Kate’s family has “simply been there for William through every high and low.”

“That loyalty has earned enormous trust,” the source said.

It’s no surprise that William is no longer as close with his brother Prince Harry ever since his brother and wife Meghan Markle stepped back from their senior royal duties and moved to California.

Still, an observer told Shuter that William won’t cut ties from his family entirely when he eventually ascends the throne following his father King Charles III‘s reign.

“When William eventually becomes King, don’t expect a dramatic break with the monarchy,” the observer said. “But don’t be surprised if the Middleton influence is stronger than ever.”

According to the observer, “They’ll remain the people William trusts most.”
