Ryan Reynolds was seemingly part of the reason his wife Blake Lively’sIt Ends With Us legal battle finally ended.
“Ryan saw the full picture early,” a source told Rob Shuter in the Tuesday, May 5 edition of his Naughty But Nice Substack. “He knew the longer this dragged on, the more it would erode everything — her career, her reputation, even their closest relationships.”
A second source explained that the Gossip Girl alum, 38, had taken the lawsuit very personally.
“It wasn’t about winning anymore — it was about proving she was right,” the source noted. “She couldn’t see how much it was costing her in real time.”

Insiders also pointed out that Lively’s reputation took a hit, both publicly and personally, from the lawsuit, and that the Deadpool & Wolverine star, 49, was persistent in wanting it to end.
“The realization hit her all at once,” a third insider claimed. “She had already lost too much — professionally, personally, publicly. The one thing she refused to lose was her marriage.”
On Monday, May 4, the A Simple Favor star and Justin Baldoni’sproduction company, Wayfarer Studios, settled the lawsuit just two weeks before they were set to go to trial. Lawyers from both sides released a joint statement about the situation.
“The end product — the movie It Ends With Us — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,” the statement read, per People. “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind.”

“We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments,” the statement further read. “It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
As Star previously reported, the legal saga began in December 2024 after Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, 42, and Wayfarer Studios, alleging sexual harassment, defamation, and other claims. The Jane the Virgin alum — who has denied all the allegations against him — filed a defamation countersuit, which Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed in June.
Then, in April, Judge Liman dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 claims, including all sexual harassment claims against her costar and director.
The remaining three claims were against Wayfarer Studios, and Baldoni as an individual was not a named defendant in any of the claims that were scheduled to go to trial.
