Orlando Bloom ‘Feeling the Burn’ as Katy Perry’s Date With Justin Trudeau Hits Him ‘Like a Ton of Bricks’ (Exclusive)

Orlando Bloom is having a hard time watching his ex-fiancée, Katy Perry, move on.

A source tells Star, the 40-year-old pop star’s recent date night with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, “hit Orlando like a ton of bricks.”

“Katy seems smitten, and Orlando’s feeling the burn,” the source shares. “He realizes he could have been nicer with Katy. Now he’s seeing she’s doing just fine without him.”

The source also notes that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 48, “hasn’t had much luck in the dating scene” himself since news broke on June 25 that he and Perry ended their six-year engagement.

“When he and Katy first split, Orlando was confident he’d be able to attract anyone he wanted, but it’s not working out the way he expected,” the source reveals.

“He’s been rejected by Sydney Sweeney, which was a big disappointment for him,” the source adds.

On August 1, the satirical outlet The Onion mocked Perry’s date with Trudeau on Instagram, posting a fake photo of Bloom having dinner with the former German chancellor.

The post read, “Orlando Bloom Spotted At Dinner With Angela Merkel.”

“Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” the caption read.

“Angela kept Orlando laughing all night — he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!;” said an insider source who spotted the pair sipping wine, slurping oysters, and splitting a decadent piece of chocolate layer cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant,” the caption jokingly concluded.

Bloom seemingly enjoyed the post as he commented “👏👏👏.”

As Star previously reported, the Grammy-nominated artist was spotted dining with the political figure, 53, in Montreal on Tuesday, July 29, per footage obtained by TMZ.

In the video, the two can be seen sitting across a table from one another, conversing. (Perry was in Canada for her The Lifetimes Tour as she had a show in Montreal on July 30 and one in Quebec City on August 1.)

The Lord of the Rings star and the “Roar” singer — who share daughter Daisy Dove, 4 — struck up a romance in 2016 and were in an on-again, off-again relationship. Bloom eventually popped the question on Valentine’s Day in 2019.

Earlier this month, a source told Star Perry and Bloom’s relationship became “borderline toxic” before the split.

“Katy and Orlando were both so tightly wound,” the source shared. “They started to bicker, and it got worse and worse over time.”

The source explained Perry was “rattled” by the backlash that her April 2025 trip to space garnered, and that Bloom “was sympathetic to a point, but he grew tired of having to constantly console her.”

“It reached the point where Katy and Orlando were living separate lives and going for large chunks of time without communicating because the tension was so palpable,” the source continued.

Additionally, the source claimed that the criticism Perry received during her time as a judge on American Idol also took a toll. (She left the show in May 2024.)

“The trolling was on another level, and that pressure bled into her home life with Orlando,” the insider alleged.
