Nick Reiner, who has been charged in connection with the murder of his parentsRob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, once said that he was thankful for their love and support.
In a resurfaced interview from the 2 Chairs and a Microphone podcast, hosted by comedian Paul Mecurio, the father-son duo sat down to discuss their 2015 film Being Charlie, based on Nick’s experiences with addiction and homelessness.
“I think I’m lucky in the sense that I have parents that care about me,” Nick, 32, said during the interview, which was posted to YouTube in November 2016.

“Because of that,” he continued, “when I would go out and do things like drugs and stuff, I’d feel a tremendous amount of guilt because I’d think, ‘They’re thinking about me right now. They want me to do good.’”
He added that “some people don’t have parents that have any interest in them,” so he was grateful for the support he received from Rob, 78, and Michele, 68.
During the podcast, Rob explained that Nick “trusted that we loved him and that we were there for him,” adding that he loved hearing Nick say those words “because I knew he has that in him, and there’s a part of him that wants to survive and doesn’t want to, you know, kill himself.”
