Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, May 19, and the Duchess of Sussex revealed the unusual gift she received from her husband.
In videos shared to her Instagram Stories, Meghan, 44, first showed Harry, 41, lighting a cake, while their two children Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 4, could be heard singing in the background in what appeared to be the kitchen of their home in Montecito, California.
In the next clip, Meghan gasped and exclaimed, “What! Oh my God,” as Harry lifted up a blanket to reveal his thoughtful present: a bronze statue of two penguins cuddled up next to one another.
Meghan then explained the significance of the gift to their children by reading aloud a card written by the former working British royal.
“When mama and papa, when we got engaged, we had a party with all of our friends and we said everyone wear an animal onesie and we wore penguins because we’re together for life,” Meghan said. The Suits alum was also holding a printed out photo that appeared to be the couple wearing the penguin onesies.

Harry’s unique gift also followed tradition, as bronze is the customary eighth wedding anniversary and symbolizes the strength and durability of a marriage.
The mother of two then shared a mirror selfie she and Harry took in November 2017 during their engagement party.
Additionally, Meghan revealed that she and Harry enjoyed a lemon elderflower cake for the at-home celebration — the same flavor served at their royal wedding, according to Town & Country.
Harry and Meghan tied the knot on the grounds of Windsor Castle in England on May 19, 2018.
Despite their joyful celebration, recent reports have alleged the couple is under pressure to maintain their wealthy status. As Star previously reported are “tight” on funds after parting ways with Netflix.
