Lena Dunham has accused her Girls costar Adam Driver of volatile behavior.
The 39-year-old writer and actress, who created and starred in the HBO series between 2012 and 2017, made the claims in an interview with the The Guardian as she promoted her memoir in the U.K.
According to the book called Famesick, the Star Wars actor, who played Hannah’s on and off boyfriend, was “spectacularly rude” to her.
Dunham also writes about multiple alleged incidents, in which Driver, 42, hurled a chair at a wall close to her, punched a hole in a trailer wall, and screamed in her face.
Asked about her shocking account in the interview, Dunham replied: “At the time, I didn’t have the skill to… it never entered my mind to say, ‘I am your boss, you can’t speak to me this way’.”
“And, at that point in my 20s, I still thought that’s what great male geniuses do: eviscerate you,” she added. “Which is weird, because I was raised by a male genius who would never do that.”

Dunham then went on in the interview to praise other “amazing men” in her life. These include her father, artist Carroll Dunham, director Judd Apatow and actor Mark Ruffalo.
Driver has not responded publicly to the claims. But previously in a 2012 Q&A with Interview, he praised his time on Girls.
“Lena’s characters — especially her female characters — are so three-dimensional and never seem in any way stereotypical, which was amazing to be a part of,” the Juilliard-trained star said. “It was such a collaborative group of people on-set that you couldn’t ask for better circumstances. It was just so open and young.”
He went on to add that Dunham had “insight beyond her years.”
