Jennifer Garner and boyfriend John Miller have kept their romance out of the spotlight for years, but a source exclusively tells Star that they’re reaching a pivotal point in their relationship that could determine what comes next for them.
“John has never been the type to push Jennifer and, for years, that really worked well for her because her kids were the priority,” the source says. “Because of the nature of her dynamic with Ben [Affleck], it did make it very difficult for her to fully merge her life with John.”
“He accepted that, and for a long time their very non-traditional arrangement seemed to work perfectly,” the source explains. “They were fine keeping things private and working around their custody schedules without feeling any pressure to move in together or make some big commitment.”
However, the source says that Garner and Miller are hoping to take their relationship to the next level.

“They’ve reached a point where they both want more, and they’re struggling to figure out how to get there,” the source continues. “They’ve talked about taking the next step before, but it never seems to happen, so they’ve ended up in this weird limbo.”
The source adds that the Alias alum, 54, “has said she’s determined to change that.”
“They’re planning quality time together away from all the usual distractions and want to use it to come up with a realistic step-by-step plan for their future,” the source shares. “They really do love each other and neither of them wants this relationship to drift along forever but it’s going to take some real effort on both their parts to make any significant changes.”
Garner and ex-husband Affleck, 53, first married in 2005 and share three kids – Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 14. They ultimately separated a decade later in 2015, and their divorce was finalized in 2018.
That same year, Garner and Miller began dating before a brief split in 2020. They reconciled in 2021 and have been together ever since.
