Jennifer Garner is aiming to become the next queen of streaming after the success of her drama, Five Star Weekend, earned the Peacock series a second season.
“Jen isn’t surprised that Five Star Weekend clicked with viewers and even drove sign-ups for the Peacock service,” the source says. “That was always her plan and the show was carefully assembled and calibrated to bring new, mostly female eyeballs to that service.”
Right now, NFL games draw in the most viewers, along with other live sports.
However, according to the source, the 13 Going on 30 star now sees the series — which is based on Elin Hildenbrand‘s novel of the same name — as proof she can compete with Hollywood’s biggest names in the streaming space.
“A year ago, nobody in town believed in this show or its franchise potential beyond Jen and her circle of collaborators,” the source explains. “Cut to 2026, and Five Star stands not just as an extension of Jen’s personal entertainment brand — it’s well on its way to becoming a streaming franchise unto itself.”

The source adds that the second season has already been “fast tracked” and Garner, along with the rest of the cast “making long-term commitments to the series.”
Plus, the source says that the Juno actress has been deeply involved behind the scenes. She served as an executive producer on Five Star Weekend and she “helped select the show’s female writers and directors.”
Garner even added “her own design touches to the Nantucket beachfront home featured as the show’s central location.”
“Like Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston have done with their streaming projects, Jen really put her own personal stamp on this show,” the source continues. “In her role as executive producer, she wielded a ton of power on the show, and this is hands-down her biggest TV success since Alias 20 years ago.”
The source shares that Garner is now setting her sights on following in the footsteps of Aniston, 57, and Witherspoon, 50, who have both built successful streaming empires with hits like The Morning Show, Big Little Lies and more.
“It’s a reminder that Reese, Jen and Nicole Kidman don’t have the market cornered on female-centric streaming shows,” the source concludes. “Jen has a lot to say in that space as well, and Five Star has proven conclusively that her instincts are as sharp as ever when it comes to finding a hit.”
