Now, Charlotte’s famous parents are already causing a stir among families whose daughters could find themselves competing against the young royal in netball, one of the U.K.’s most popular women’s sports.

“All of the parents of the girls on the opposing teams are wondering whether or not they’re going to run into William and Kate,” a source told the outlet in a story published on August 15. “It’s all very hands-on, and it would be funny to see them in such a down-to-earth environment, doing the early starts and long drives that everyone else has to do.”
Charlotte’s latest sporting pursuit may not come as a surprise to royal watchers: Princess Kate revealed during a visit to Wakefield Trinity Rugby League Club in January, via People, that her daughter “does loads of sports, but not much rugby yet. It’s so difficult playing rugby in school.”
The Princess of Wales and Prince William, both 44, have previously spoken about Charlotte’s interests in gymnastics, ballet, rugby, soccer and running. William even proudly revealed to The Telegraph in 2025 that his daughter was competing in the 400 meters and hurdles.

Charlotte also got to see some of the world’s best netball players in action earlier this month when she joined her parents and brothers, Prince George, 13, and Prince Louis, 8, at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The family watched Australia take on Jamaica in a netball semifinal on August 1, as well as England’s match against New Zealand.
Charlotte appears to have inherited her parents’ competitive streak. Princess Kate captained her field hockey team while attending Marlborough College and is also a keen tennis player, while Prince William competed in swimming, water polo and soccer during his school years at Eton College.
