James Van Der Beek is parting with some meaningful collectables from his time in Hollywood thus far.
According to People, the former teen heartthrob, 48, is auctioning off “wardrobe, props and set pieces that trace his career-defining moments,” including items from his hit teen drama show Dawson’s Creek and the 1999 flick Varsity Blues.
As to why the Dancing with the Stars alum — who shares six kids with his wife Kimberly — is choosing to sell these treasures now, it is seemingly to help fund his cancer treatment as he is battling Stage 3 colorectal cancer.
“100 percent of the proceeds from these items will go to Van Der Beek to help with the financial cost of fighting cancer,” according to People.

“I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now,” Van Der Beek told People.
“While I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items, it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore’s auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years,” he explained.
As Star previously reported, the father of six had to miss the Dawson’s Creek reunion in September because he was too ill.
Van Der Beek took to Instagram to share that he was “gutted” not to be at the event in New York City, explaining “two stomach viruses conspired to knock me out of commission and keep me grounded at the worst possible moment.” However, he did make an appearance via a pre-recorded video.
A source told Star in September that while Van Der Beek was “upset he couldn’t make the reunion in person,” he is still “staying positive and upbeat.”
