James Van Der Beek Enjoys ‘Happy Day’ With His Father After Sparking Concern Amid Cancer Battle
James Van Der Beek is basking in love amid his battle with Stage 3 colorectal cancer.
“Happy Day,” his wife, Kimberly, captioned a sunlit Instagram shot of the Dawson’s Creek alum, 48, and his father, who is also named James, which she posted on Thursday, October 16. She did not reveal when the photo was taken.
“He looks so happy and so good!!! Keep fighting James!!!” wrote one fan.
“Must be all the healing energy the world has been sending him,” added another.
“Love seeing James looking healthier, I hope this is signs of a recovery,” commented another.
As Star previously reported, the actor was forced to cancel his appearance at a special Dawson’s Creek reunion to benefit F Cancer in New York City on Monday, September 22 for health reasons. Instead, he sent a pre-recorded video in which his frail appearance sparked fans’ concerns.
“He’s staying positive and upbeat, and doesn’t want anyone to worry about it,” a source told Star at the time.
His family is “proud of him for being a fighter and an optimist,” the source added, but it’s still “very difficult to see him this way. They’re worried about him regardless of what he says.”
