After Britney Spears’ highly publicized conservatorship finally came to an end, her family reportedly no longer wants to get involved in her personal life.
Though the “Circus” singer, 44, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence earlier this month, a Tuesday, March 24, report in journalist Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack claimed that some people are reluctant to help.
“No one in the family wants to touch this,” a source told Shuter. “After what happened during the conservatorship battle, they’re terrified of being dragged back into the spotlight.”
While there is “concern” for the mother of two following the headline-making ordeal, an insider said that “nobody wants to start that war again.”
The Grammy Award winner was notably placed under a controversial conservatorship in 2008, leading to the #FreeBritney movement, but it was dissolved in 2021. Amid the lengthy legal process, her father Jamie Spears came under fire for his alleged treatment of the singer.

“Jamie was absolutely crucified,” said one of Shuter’s sources. “The rest of the family saw what happened to him and they’re not eager to go through that themselves.”
Regardless, a source pointed out that Spears has “made it very clear she doesn’t want her family involved in her life,” adding: “They know if they step in, she’ll see it as betrayal.”
Following Spears’ arrest, she was reportedly released from jail around 6 a.m. on March 5 and transported to the hospital that same morning to have her blood drawn after being pulled over.
The “Gimme More” singer is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on May 4.
Following the arrest, a representative for the singer told Star that “hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” calling it an “unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.”
