Benny Blanco Has ‘Positioned Himself Well’ in Hollywood as He Prepares to Marry Selena Gomez (Exclusive)

Being Selena Gomez’s other half has its perks — just ask Benny Blanco.

According to a source, the record producer, 37, has officially won over everyone in Gomez’s orbit, including the critics who were surprised he was dating the beloved fan favorite.

“Selena’s relationship with Benny and her plans to marry him before the end of the year seemed baffling just a few months back,” the source tells Star, “especially to the people who know Selena through her TV show and the acting side of her career.”

Now, however, “people are finally understanding what Selena sees in this guy,” the source explains. “He has a real sense of humor and a disarming humility about him that instantly puts people at ease.”

Those closest to Gomez, 33, believes the former child star “deserves a guy” like Blanco “after everything she’s been through” and he’s also proven to be a hit with the team involved with Only Murders in the Building — which is no small feat, considering Hollywood legends Steve Martin, Martin Short and Meryl Streep are among those on the cast.

“They’ve seen and heard it all, and Benny can still make them laugh and feel comfortable around him,” the source says.

Blanco is so revered on the set of the Hulu comedy drama series that he could find himself adding one more line on his resume: Guest star!

“Benny has positioned himself well,” says the source, noting Blanco has “a fresh look and vibe,” which is appealing to those involved in showbiz. “He’s impressed people enough that it’s just a matter of time before he appears on Only Murders in the Building himself and expands his star power accordingly.”

Gomez couldn’t be happier: “She’s incredibly proud of Benny for stepping up and winning over her collaborators,” adds the source. “Benny’s not a mystery man anymore. He’s kind, he’s friendly — and he’s the perfect person for Selena.”
