Ariana Grande ‘Is Happy’ for Ex-Fiancé Pete Davidson Amid Baby News: ‘He Will Be a Great Dad’

Ariana Grande has no hard feelings when it comes to her past with ex-fiancé Pete Davidson — and is rooting for him amid news that he has a bundle of joy on the way.

An insider close to the pop star, 32, told Daily Mail in a report published July 17 that Grande “is happy for Pete” after learning that he is expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.

The Thank U, Next hitmaker doesn’t “know Elsie, but she believes that Pete becoming a father is the exact thing that he needs in his life and that he will be a great dad,” per the insider.

On the other hand, “Pete is looking to give it his all because he knows more than anyone that nobody is promised tomorrow,” the insider continued, referring to the death of his late firefighter father, Scott Davidson, who died during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City.

Davidson, 31, and Grande ended their whirlwind romance in 2018 after about five months of dating and being engaged. The “Side to Side” singer  used to have the badge number of Davidson’s father inked on her ankle, but she has since covered it up in the wake of their split.

Grande’s new ink in that spot reads “Myron,” which is the name of the beloved dog her late ex, Mac Miller, adopted in January 2017.

Following her breakup from Davidson, Grande also covered up the “Pete” tattoo on her left ring finger with a black heart while the King of Staten Island star inked over a tattoo of Grande’s Dangerous Woman bunny ear logo behind his ear with a black heart.

In the new report, the insider suggested to the Daily Mail that Grande — who’s been dating her Wicked costar Ethan Slater since 2023 — would love to be a mom when the time is right, and “is hoping for the same good fortune to come her way someday in the future.”

As Star previously reported, a source close to the Saturday Night Live alum revealed that Davidson is overjoyed that he is going to be a dad.

“He’s been wanting to have a kid for a long while now, and now his dream is coming true. He and Elsie are a perfect pair. They get along so well,” the source said. “There’s no doubt they’ll be great parents together, too.”

The couple’s budding romance was confirmed in March. Two months later Davidson and Hewitt, 29, made their red carpet debut at the 13th Annual Blossom Ball in New York City.

Friends of Davidson “see him light up talking about his child on the way and what he’s planning after he or she arrives,” the source shared. “Pete doesn’t have a preference, boy or girl is fine.”

“He can’t wait to be a dad. He’s had some struggles, this is true, and sadly, he was only seven when his own dad died, but Elsie has been a grounding influence on him, and this news has been a ray of hope for Pete and for his loved ones who worried about him.”
