After Vogue’s new head of editorial content, Chloe Malle, was spotted at Paris Fashion Week wearing something that appeared to be straight out of the Devil Wears Prada (pre-Anne Hathaway makeover), the buzz has gotten back to fashion icon Anna Wintour.
Sources told journalist Rob Shuter for a Thursday, March 12, post on his Naughty But Nice Substack that the former Vogue editor-in-chief, 76, plans to stage a Miranda Priestly-style “intervention” ASAP.
“Designers were stunned,” a fashion insider told Shuter of the 40-year-old’s recent appearance in France, during which she stuck out like a sore thumb next to style icon Wintour. “They expect the person representing Vogue to look like Vogue.”
Malle, who was named Wintour’s successor in September 2025, sported a cerulean cardigan over a button-up shirt and striped skirt with black loafers. Her hair was pulled back, and she wore minimal makeup and accessories.
“The comparison to Andy Sachs was brutal,” a source told Shuter, referencing Hathaway’s oftentimes clueless Devil Wears Prada character. “And designers noticed.”

Following their joint appearance, said another source, “Anna heard the complaints. When designers start whispering about how someone looks in the front row, that becomes a Vogue problem.”
According to the Naughty But Nice report, Wintour is ready to work her magic. “Think new wardrobe, new styling, maybe even a new hair look,” said a source. “This is the reinvention of Chloe.”
Even Malle’s mother, famed actress Candice Bergen, weighed in on her daughter’s newest role at the fashion giant.
Calling Malle’s new position “no small thing,” the Murphy Brown star told AARP, “She’s been at Vogue for 14 years, so she didn’t just talk her way into it. She worked up to it.”
“I think she’s wonderful with her kids,” Bergen added of her daughter, “and she’s very lucky because she chose a great husband [Graham Albert], who is a fantastic father.”
