The Truth About JFK Jr. and Princess Diana’s 1995 Meeting at Late Royal’s NYC Hotel
Following both their deaths, rumors emerged linking John F. Kennedy Jr. and Princess Diana during the period before he wed Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and after she separated from King Charles III.
The truth, people who knew John later revealed, is that they met up at Diana’s NYC hotel in 1995 — two years before she died at 36 following a car crash in Paris — for business, not pleasure.
John quietly visited the Princess of Wales for about an hour and a half in her suite at The Carlyle where he tried, unsuccessfully, to convince her to pose for George.
The magazine’s creative director, Matt Berman — who wrote about the meeting in his 2014 memoir, JFK Jr., George & Me — later remembered “the one funny thing” John said afterward: “She’s got a great pair of legs.”
