Shia LaBeouf Ordered to Rehab After Arrest, But Source Says ‘It’s Not the Answer’

Shia LaBeouf has been ordered to go to rehab following a brawl in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, per USA Today — but the ruling is raising questions on how much good it will do.

The Transformers star, 39, was charged with three counts of battery after the altercation on February 17, but a source told Page Six that rehab isn’t the answer.

“He’s just so good at convincing people and potential partners; they all fall for it,” the source told the outlet in an article published on Monday, March 2. “He’s so convincing when he says, ‘I’ve been in recovery, I’m making amends, I’m flawed — I had this terrible childhood and this terrible past.’”

LaBeouf previously said in an interview that he doesn’t believe alcohol is the problem and is “not into” the idea of going to rehab.

“I don’t think I have a drinking problem. I think I have a different problem and I’m gonna address it,” the Peanut Butter Falcon actor explained during an interview with Andrew Callaghan’s Channel 5 on February 28. “I think it’s something that has to do with anger and ego more so than my drinking.”

However, those that know LaBeouf are seemingly worried for him.

Last month, a source told In Touch that the Holes star is “on a real self-destructive path right now,” adding that “he’s been a total mess since Mia [Goth] called things off over a year ago.”

LaBeouf and Goth, 32, have been together on and off since 2016, and they share daughter Isabel, who was born in 2022. According to In Touch’s source, LaBeouf “was doing great with his sobriety, doting on his little girl, and being a model family man.”

However, “those demons have resurfaced again, big time, now he’s on his own, and Mia’s not there to keep him on track,” the source explained. “He’s putting himself into incredibly dangerous situations, and nobody’s been able to talk any sense into him.”
