Sarah Michelle Gellar recently spilled that good old-fashioned “work” is to thank for her oft-exalted 22-year marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr. Sharing her tough-love take, the actress observed, “We live in an extremely disposable society now, and I think that’s a lot of the attitude toward relationships.”
Instead of giving up, she countered, “everything takes work, whether it’s a friendship or a work relationship or a marriage. You have to put the work in.” Sarah, 47, and Freddie, 48, met as costars on 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer and have welcomed two kids (Charlotte, 15, and Rocky, 12) since their 2002 wedding. Their children are another inspiration to be honest about what keeps her marriage strong. “She doesn’t sugarcoat anything,” says an insider. “It’s important for Sarah and Freddie to provide a good model for their kids.”
