Luann De Lesseps Checks Back Into Rehab Amid Family Legal Battle

Earlier this month, news broke that Luann was dating a new man — her still-married agent! Then, it was reported that her children, Victoria and Noel, and first ex-husband, Alexandre, are suing her over the sale of her Sag Harbor home and a breach of their divorce agreement.

RadarOnline shared reports that the Countess had relapsed earlier this summer. “She was sober during filming, but is back to drinking,” a source recently told Radar, saying “She never promised to be sober forever.”  They added, “She knew she should be sober on camera, but now she thinks she can drink in a low-key way.” The Countess herself confessed to having a hard time staying sober after her most recent divorce from Tom D'Agostino.

Now, fellow RHONY cast member Bethenny Frankel has told People that Luann has checked herself back into rehab. “This weekend, Luann was surrounded by her girlfriends and decided — with their support — that in light of recent circumstances, it is the healthiest choice for her not to attend Tuesday’s reunion taping so that she can continue in her healing process,” she said.

“Luann is now surrounded by a core group of people who truly have her best interests at heart and who are working to make sure she gets the help she needs,” Bethenny continued. “Bravo has been very supportive of Luann during this time. It’s a brave and honest decision by her, and everyone is rallying around her and wants the best for her.”

“Bravo supports Luann’s decision to focus on her health,” the network said in a statement. “She is part of the Bravo family and we continue to stand by her as she copes with this challenging situation. At this time, we hope everyone will respect her privacy.”

Luann had recently finished her run of cabaret shows, #CountessandFriends in New York City. Bethenny said, “She’s taking the necessary steps to get better so that the show can go on.” She added, “Recent additional family stress was a catalyst to her taking a break,” referring to the legal battle.

Ben Rimalower, musical director of her cabaret, said, “As a longtime fan and recent friend/collaborator, I know how much heart and soul Luann brings to her life and work every day. As someone in recovery myself, I understand the challenges she faces, and I admire her bravery.”

The Countess first went to rehab after her December 24 arrest. The arrest — and its aftermath — were all featured on season 10 of Real Housewives of New York City, which wraps up this month. The two-part reunion, which Luann will not film, will air in August.
