Lara Spencer apologized on Good Morning America for making fun of Prince George’s ballet class. Last week, she mocked Prince William for saying his 6-year-old son loved to dance. Lara was widely criticized for the comments.

On August 19, she apologized on air. “I screwed up. I did,” she admitted. “The comment I made about dance was insensitive, it was stupid, and I am deeply sorry.”

“I’ve spoken with several members of the dance community over the past few days,” she explained. “I have listened. I have learned about the bravery it takes for a young boy to pursue a career in dance.”

“For me, the lesson is that words hurt. It was not my intention but it was insensitive. … Just let people follow their dream, whether it’s dance, whatever it is,” Lara said.

“I want more boys to dance,” Travis, 31, said. “We make such beautiful art and we create such beautiful moments in this world. And I wish the world would dance more.”

He also revealed on Instagram that Lara has personally called him over the weekend to apologize. “She is completely horrified and just truly just issued this massive apology,” he said. “I could just hear the horror in her voice.”
