Demi Moore has revealed that when she was 15 years old, she was raped by a man who had paid her mother $500.
Demi, 56, talked about the traumatic incident during an interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America. She was promoting her memoir, Inside Out, which will be released on September 23.
As Demi described it, she came home one night and found an older man in their apartment. Her mother had give him the key to the door.
“It was rape and a devastating betrayal revealed by the man’s cruel question, ‘How does it feel to be whored by your mother for $500?’” the actress wrote in her memoir.
Diane, 73, asked Demi if she really thought he mother sold her. “I think in my deep heart, no,” Demi replied. But she still blamed her for what happened.
“I don’t think it was a straightforward transaction, but she still did give him the access and put me in harm’s way,” she said. She also revealed that, at a young age, her mom had started taking her to bars to attract men.
