“Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that,” PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk told People on Sunday, December 28. “Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous.”

Newkirk encouraged the Kardashians star “to call PETA or a local shelter the next time [she] wants to bring an animal into [her] home.”
Kardashian, 45, announced the newest additions’ arrivals via her Instagram Story with a photo of the four pups cozied up together on the couch.
“Each kid got a puppy,” she shared following the holiday.

Newkirk also called out the Skims founder’s younger sister, Khloé Kardashian, who gifted her children a black labrador puppy for Christmas.
“[They can] try to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis,” the PETA founder added.
