Olivia Munn has remained silent on the reason behind the strained dynamic between ex-boyfriend Aaron Rodgers and his family despite the swirling speculation that she may have been directly involved.
On the Monday, June 30, episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the X-Men: Apocalypse star, 44, revealed why she chose not to speak out for so many years.
“There’s this whole big narrative that stayed with me,” she explained. “There was just this dynamic in the family that had nothing to do with me.”
“It became this whole big thing, and people were like, ‘I can’t believe her, she’s keeping this family apart,’” she added. “People have speculated for many years what was the rift, and I know, but I’m not saying because it’s not my story to tell.”

The mom of two – who shares Malcolm, 3, and Mei, 9 months, with husband John Mulaney – admitted she was relieved when Rodgers, 41, finally publicly clarified she had “nothing to do” with the distance between him and certain members of his family in the book Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers. Despite having a history of being very private about his personal life, the NFL star confessed at the time that the issue with his family was “deep-rooted.”
“Thank God somebody had read it and said, ‘Oh, wait! Aaron speaks,’” Munn told Shepard. “I was really grateful that he did that. Even if people didn’t want to take hold of that statement, it made me feel good that it was said.”
Munn – who dated Rodgers for three years before their 2017 split – also pointed out the unfair levels of criticism girlfriends of football players receive from fans. Recalling when Jessica Simpson was with former NFL quarterback Tony Romo, she said the pop star was “hung out to dry” when he didn’t play well.

She also pointed out a double standard that partners of athletes are sometimes blamed for losses but not praised for wins. During the time she was in a relationship with Rodgers, the Tales of the Walking Dead actress said he had “three Hail Marys” and made it to “two NFC championships” but she “didn’t get credit for any of the wins.”
This comes days after Rodgers defended his new wife, who is believed to be his former girlfriend Brittani, for her decision to stay out of the public eye.
He claimed she “didn’t sign up to be a celebrity” and “doesn’t want to be a part of it,” during a sit-down on the Pat McAfee Show last month.
“I do things in private because I want my personal life to be private, now I’m weird. Now, the paparazzi is stalking me on the beach, trying to get a picture of her,” he continued. “If and when she wants to be out and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that. She deserves a right to that.”
