Meghan Markle may have sent her ailing father Thomas Markle a letter following his reported leg amputation, but some royal experts feel she should make more of an effort.
“It would be in her best interest to show her elderly father, who had just lost a limb, some compassion,” royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital in an article published Thursday, December 11.
“Otherwise,” Schofield pointed out, “every time we see Meghan and [husband Prince Harry] lovingly engage with wounded vets at Invictus, we will ask ourselves why they couldn’t show Meghan’s father the same compassion.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father, 81, is believed to still be in a hospital in the Philippines as he recovers from an emergency leg amputation.
As Star previously reported, the 44-year-old wrote to her father and has allegedly tried to reach him since he fell ill. However, after it was initially reported that Meghan attempted to contact him, her half-sister, Samantha Markle, insinuated (via X) that it was “likely a PR stunt.”
The Suits alum and her father have been estranged since her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, as Thomas was caught staging paparazzi pictures days before her big day.

Hilary Fordwich, another royal expert, told Fox that it’s likely Thomas misses his daughter and just wants to meet his grandchildren, 6-year-old Prince Archie and 4-year-old Princess Lilibet.
“Regardless of what her father has done in recent years, he is still her father,” Fordwich said. “He raised her as best he could with clear devotion. Even a private, brief meeting would have been helpful.”
