Adele appears to be inching closer to a music comeback, secretly flying from Los Angeles to London to write and record new material.

The 38-year-old singer has spent the past week working out of Church Studios in North London after arriving earlier this month, according to a report The Sun published Sunday, June 21.

It’s a notable shift for the star, who vowed to take a “big break” from music two years ago. Now, according to the outlet, “Adele is spending at least a fortnight in London writing and recording music.”

Per the report, Adele “was in and out of sessions last week and will be back in there this week, but she is keeping a low profile while she is here.”

Adding to the intrigue, Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon was photographed outside Church Studios on Wednesday, June 17, while Gracie Abrams appeared to be filming a music video at the same location, per the report.

While there’s no confirmation that either artist is collaborating with Adele, she has long been an admirer of Vernon’s work. In a 2016 post on X, Adele wrote, “Bon Iver’s music is one of the true loves of my life. Every. Single. Time.”

Per the Sun, an insider suggested the London trip is meant to inspire a more British sound after 2021’s 30, which was written in the U.S. about her divorce: “Her last album was well received but it was very Hollywood.”

“Adele feels the pressure with her music and won’t rush anything out if it’s not up to scratch with her back catalogue,” an insider explained, according to the article.

The singer has been spotted around London in recent weeks, including at actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s birthday party on Friday, June 12, and at singer Lola Young‘s concert at O2 Academy Brixton on Thursday, June 18, according to the report.

Adele’s also making her acting debut. Per the report, in February she was in Rome filming Tom Ford‘s drama Cry To Heaven — based on Anne Rice‘s novel of the same name — opposite Colin Firth and Julianne Moore.

As Star previously reported, Adele is happily engaged to sports agent Rich Paul since 2024. The couple first went public with their romance in July 2021. Speaking on the Glass Half Full podcast on Tuesday, June 9, Paul, 44, said the pair had known each other for years through mutual social circles and that their romance developed “very organically” after spending time together laughing and joking as friends.
