Catherine O’Hara, the Emmy Award-winning actress known for comedic roles in Schitt’s Creek and Beetlejuice, has died. She was 71.
TMZ reported that the famed Hollywood star died Friday, January 30, according to two sources with direct knowledge. Her cause of death is currently unknown.
The Canadian actress’ manager confirmed the news to People, but provided no further details.
In 2020, the actress won an Emmy Award for her portrayal of matriarch Moira Rose in the Pop TV sitcom Schitt’s Creek, in which she starred alongside Dan Levy, Eugene Levy and Annie Murphy.
Born March 4, 1954, O’Hara grew up in Toronto, Ontario, before beginning a career in sketch comedy.
She had a long list of film and television credits to her name. Most notably, she played Delia Deetz in Beetlejuice as well as Kate McCallister in 1990’s Home Alone and its 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
Some of her other credits include After Hours, Heartburn and more.
O’Hara was married to production designer Bo Welch, whom she met on the set of Beetlejuice, in 1992. They share two sons, Matthew and Luke.
