Dr. Mike, a board-certified family medicine physician who has gained fame on TikTok, recently revealed one of the more bizarre questions he’s been asked and it came from none other than Kristen Bell.

Dr. Mike, whose full name is Dr. Mikhail Varshavski, was a guest on The Basement Yard podcast on Monday, March 2. Hosts Joe Santagato and Frank Alvarez pointed out that Dr. Mike had previously debunked that drinking your own urine had any health benefits. However, it appeared that Bell wanted a little more clarification on the matter.

“A famous celebrity, the other day, messaged me asking me if she should drink her own urine because her friend was doing it,” Dr. Mike claimed.

He went on to add that the alleged message “wasn’t an official patient consultation” and claimed that it was the Frozen star, 45, who sent it.

“First time saying this on air. Kristen Bell, I can’t believe you really considered drinking urine!” Dr. Mike continued.

The Russian-American doctor explained that he told her no “respectfully.”

“Then it turned out one of her castmates on [Nobody Wants This] was actually tricking her into thinking she was drinking urine by creating drinks that looked like urine,” Dr. Mike said. “So much so that she reached out to me.”

The castmate in question was Justine Lupe, and she and Bell actually opened up about the prank in September 2025. The former Good Place actress admitted that she messaged Dr. Mike when Lupe’s prank went on longer than she expected.

“I said, ‘I have a friend who is drinking her own urine. What are the risks slash benefits of this? Have you heard anything about it?’” Bell said, recalling her conversation with Dr. Mike during an appearance on husband Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.

She continued, “He was like, ‘Well, honestly, I think it sounds insane, but I don’t think it would hurt her.’ He said, ‘There are a lot better ways to remineralize, like a multivitamin.’”

Lupe eventually revealed it was an April Fool’s Day prank and admitted that she created the pee-like liquid by steeping chamomile tea bags in water.
