Between red carpets and packed schedules, Kaitlyn Dever found time for a quieter kind of spotlight. The actress recently slipped away to Waldorf Astoria Park City, soaking in the mountain views, outdoor hot tubs, and the kind of low-key luxury she says helps her truly reset while traveling to the premiere of her new film, “See You When I See You,” at the Sundance Film Festival.
While at the hotel, Dever shared two short videos reflecting on what makes a destination stand out to her. In one clip, filmed fresh from the jacuzzi, she gestures to the scenery around her.
“So, I wanted to talk about some of the things I look for when choosing a destination. I just got out of the jacuzzi, I feel super cozy, and this is what I look for: this view right here. I feel totally embedded in nature, and it’s super peaceful,” she said.
In another video, Dever focused on something she believes often goes unnoticed.
“Another thing I wanted to talk about is what a great hotel gets right that not a lot of people notice, and I think that’s hospitality,” she said. “The Waldorf here in Park City has truly been wonderful. Everybody that works here and who I’ve encountered has been so lovely and so nice and i think that goes a long way.”
That connection to nature is central to how Dever chooses her getaways.
“I look for a destination that has a lot of nature. Trees, natural lakes, and any forest landscape always make me feel super relaxed and grounded. I love feeling immersed in nature and always try to look for a hotel that has a lot of hiking trails in the area whenever I’m looking to reset and slow down.”
As someone who spends much of the year on the road, she’s also attuned to the subtleties of a hotel stay.
“The true feeling of ‘cozy,’ I think, is a very hard feeling to achieve with a hotel, but it is something I’m pretty sensitive to, especially because I travel so much for work. I always love the way Hilton luxury suites achieve a cozy feeling with their rooms.”
When the schedule loosens, so do her rules — especially around food.
“When I’m traveling, I definitely like to hydrate a lot! In terms of food, though, I try not to limit or restrict myself. I tend to just eat whatever I want or feel like having! I like to explore with food when I travel.”
For Dever, the Park City escape, with its stillness, scenery, and hospitality, makes even a work trip feel restorative.
