Julia Roberts and Danny Moder Getting ‘Back to Their Roots as a Couple’ After Becoming Empty Nesters

“My fav day. My fav man,” Julia Roberts captioned a loved-up photo with husband Danny Moder to celebrate his 57th birthday Jan. 31. The Oscar winner, 58, and the cinematographer, who celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary in July, are still getting used to being empty nesters as twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 21, and son Henry, 18, have flown the coop.

While Julia has admitted to “sobbing” about letting her children go, the After the Hunt actress revealed a few months ago that there are some surprisingly delightful parts for her and Danny now that they have the house to themselves. “It’s all fun, honestly,” she shared, adding, “It’s also delicious.”

An insider tells Star that the two — who met on the set of The Mexican in 2001 — have been rediscovering each other. “Julia and Danny are back in the honeymoon phase in many ways,” says the source. “It’s obviously bittersweet because they miss the kids, but at the same time, it gives them that opportunity to hang out and get back to their roots as a couple.”

They don’t have too much time for either. The Pretty Woman star has several upcoming projects, including reprising her role as Tess in Ocean’s 14. It’s hard to believe the heist franchise began in 2001! Star George Clooney says the flick will nod to time passing. “There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do,” he’s said. “But we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with it.”
