Jon Gosselin Says He ‘Could Have Died’ From Recent Health Scare, Reveals ‘Biggest No-No’ He Learned

Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum Jon Gosselin recently suffered a terrifying health scare.

Gosselin, 48, opened up about his near-death experience in an interview with the Daily Mail on Wednesday, January 28.

The former reality star told the outlet that a few weeks before his wedding to Stephanie Lebo in November, he felt a “grueling pain” in his leg that spread to his upper shoulder the next day.

During a middle-of-the-night coughing fit,  “I coughed up what looked like Silly Putty – it was a blood clot,” Gosselin explained, adding that he knew “something was wrong.”

The father of eight drove himself to the hospital in an effort to not burden anyone at such an hour. However, hindsight is 20-20 as Gosselin admitted that was “the biggest no-no.”

“If you have deep-vein thrombosis, you could die at the wheel,” he told Daily Mail.

Gosselin was diagnosed with two bilateral pulmonary embolisms and is treating the condition with medication.

“I’m on heart meds, blood pressure meds, aspirin, and then I take Eliquis. It’s a drug that prevents blood clots,” he explained. “But I definitely could have died. If I had just stayed home that night, I could have had a real pulmonary embolism and just died.”
