John Cena Admits His Hair Transplant Left Him With ‘an Alien Head’ During Recovery

John Cena is opening up about undergoing a hair transplant that he claimed made him look unusual during the recovery process.

“It is a surgery. [The] first 14 days are the most important, can’t get [the surgical site] wet, it’s an open wound,” the WWE legend, 48, told TMZ Sports during an interview published on Saturday, April 18. “Your head swells, [then] the swelling comes down, your skull looks different for a little bit.”

“But I didn’t care. I literally got the transplant and went right to pre-prep for a movie in Budapest,” Cena added. “I was walking around Christmas markets in Budapest with, like, an alien head.”

It’s unclear which film the Trainwreck star was filming in the European capital, but Cena added, “They were kind enough to let me stay down for 14 days and then after that I went to work.”

Cena previously opened up about being bullied by WWE fans for his “bald spot,” per People, which ultimately led him to seek out Dr. Ken Anderson in Georgia for his transplant.

“You chant and you make me feel small and you embarrass me. Y’all don’t know what that’s like. That is straight-up bullying. That’s just not cool. I don’t like it,” he said in April 2025 during an appearance on the Pat McAfee show. “So, thank you for bullying me into getting surgical hair replacement. That’s how far y’all push me.”
