Jennifer Aniston and Jim Curtis are at a crossroads in their relationship, a source tells Star, with work commitments tying each of them to opposite coasts.
While the actress is California-based — and expected to shoot the upcoming projects I’m Glad My Mom Died and Season 5 of The Morning Show in L.A. — her hypnotherapist beau has a career that’s centered in New York City, where he hosts live workshops.
“It’s a tough situation,” says the source.
But business obligations may not be the only thing keeping Aniston, 56, on the West Coast.
“New York City is not a place she wants to ever live permanently,” spills the source. “It’s a nice place for Jen to visit, but she prefers the SoCal climate. That makes life tricky for Jim, who needs to be in New York a lot.”

Raised in the Big Apple, the Friends alum tried moving there for love before.
In 2011, amid her then-budding romance with diehard New Yorker Justin Theroux, she spent $7 million on two West Village apartments, but sold them at a loss one year later.
“It felt like I was [living] in a fishbowl,” Aniston later told The Kyle and Jackie O Show, per People.
So the couple relocated to her beloved Cali, eventually getting married in the backyard of a Bel-Air mansion in 2015.
Eight years after their divorce, Aniston has returned to New York City on a more regular basis, hitting up spots like the Greenwich Hotel and Cafe Cluny with 50-year-old Curtis.

The Instagram official lovebirds even spent Thanksgiving weekend on the East Coast.
“Jen’s adapting, but only to a point,” claims the source. “If Jim wants to keep things going with Jen, he needs to scale up his work in Los Angeles as much as possible!”
According to People, Curtis — an author who also does virtual coaching — has previously collaborated with Hollywood names such as Julianne Hough and Miranda Kerr.
Adds the source, “Jim needs to adjust his life to make things work.”
