King Charles and Princess Kate Join Forces for Cancer Event After Going Public With Their Diagnoses
Princess Kate and King Charles III came together for a cause that hits close to home for both of them.
The beloved royals joined Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at a reception at St. James’s Palace in London on Tuesday, June 2, celebrating the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research U.K, per the official website.
The evening represented a special milestone for the royal family, with Charles and Princess Kate making their first joint appearance at a cancer event since both opened up about their own cancer battles in 2024.
Tuesday’s reception was also Princess Kate’s first public outing in several weeks, as she had taken time away from her duties during her children’s school half-term break.
Charles, 77, announced he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February 2024, as per the BBC. He has been receiving treatment since.
Last December, the King offered a hopeful update, saying his treatment would be scaled back in the coming year.
He took on the role of Cancer Research U.K. patron in 2024, shortly after resuming his public duties following his diagnosis.
Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales disclosed her own cancer diagnosis the following month, in March 2024, and pulled back from royal engagements to concentrate on her health.
She completed chemotherapy by September 2024 and announced on Instagram that she was in remission in January 2025.
