When American Idol first aired in 2002, the show was all the pop culture buzz. Come on, American Idol‘s first winner Kelly Clarkson actually went into stardom from it. And we can’t forget Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Jordin Sparks, Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdar, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert and Philip Phillips. But these last few seasons, American Idol winners don’t always get as far as others did. After working it for 14 seasons, the show’s power switch is about to flipped off for good.

Fox has noticed the viewer numbers sinking the last few years, even though the show’s pulse tried to be revived many times with changes that included a new person who ran the show. Numbers continued to fall from season two’s 38 million viewers to a weak 9 million in recent seasons.

American Idol‘s 15th season is lined up to begin in January 2016, which will pay tribute to its past 14 seasons and fans. Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. will resume their judge chairs for American Idol‘s final season.
