’19 Kids and Counting’ Alum Joseph Duggar Arrested for Alleged Sexual Activity With a Minor
Another Duggar son has been accused of sexual misconduct. Joseph Duggar, a younger brother of convicted sex offender Josh Duggar, 38, faces charges in Bay County, Fla., for repeatedly engaging in “unlawful sexual activity” with a 9-year-old girl in 2020.
The girl, now 14, alleged that the 31-year-old, who gained fame as part of the conservative Christian Duggar clan on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, had “asked her to sit on his lap,” “covered them with a blanket, ‘rubbing’ his hands on her thighs” and grazing her genitals, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office announcement on social media. When confronted, the married father of three allegedly apologized and the behavior stopped. But on March 17, after the girl’s father went to the police, Joseph reportedly fessed up and is now awaiting extradition from his native Arkansas to Florida.
Joseph was 20 when Josh’s molestation of girls, including four of his own sisters, was discussed on the spinoff Counting On. He expressed shock at his big brother’s “secret life” in a video shared by Entertainment Tonight, saying, “It broke my heart.” Josh is currently serving time for receiving child sexual abuse material.
