When you’re touring and working on an album all at once, there’s not really much time to plan a wedding — that’s something Kelly Clarkson learned all too quickly. Despite she and fiance Brandon Blackstock’s original plan for a backyard, fall wedding at their home in Nashville, the singer says she’s got a whole different idea in mind now that the date is closer.
“We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, ‘So, we change our minds and we want to elope,'” she explains. “We just got so overwhelmed by it — all the decisions.” Because they had already sent out Save-the-Date cards, Kelly and Brandon had to retract and pass along an apology to family and friends when they mailed out their engagement photos.
“It’s just going to be me and Brandon and his two kids and the minister,” Kelly reveals. Besides the American Idol winner’s hectic schedule, Brandon is also keeping quite busy as the manager of Blake Shelton. Plus, the manager already has a major commitment raising his two kids, who live with the couple.
Regardless, Kelly says the couple will eventually have a party to celebrate with their would-be wedding guests.
