The Voice Picks a Winner: It's a Three-Peat For Team Blake!

Blake Shelton & Danielle Bradbery

Blake Shelton got one of the best birthday presents he could ask for on Tuesday, when his 16-year-old The Voice team member Danielle Bradbery was named the winner in the show’s Season 4 finale! Blake’s other finalist, The Swon Brothers, took third place, while Usher‘s Michelle Chamuel came in second.

For the first week in this season’s live shows — America and I actually agree! This was the Top 3 outcome I had hoped for after Monday’s performances, and although yesterday’s iTunes charts gave a fairly good indication that Danielle would win, it was still an amazing moment to watch. After watching several seasons of several different singing competition shows, this was probably the most genuine and humble reaction I’ve ever seen…and it only made me love her even more.

Plus, to see how excited Coach Blake was for the young artist he discovered was truly amazing. Also — Blake and Usher’s hand-holding moment as they waited for the winner to be announced was a highlight of the season for me. Is Usher stealing Blake away from his bromance with Adam Levine?! Watch it all go down:

This makes it three seasons in a row that Blake is the winner, and although I’ve loved all his artists who have come out on top, I think it’s time another Coach takes the title next fall. Speaking of next fall…let’s not forget that Season 5 will also reunite the show’s original coaches, meaning Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green will be returning to replace Usher and Shakira, which I have mixed feelings about. Season 4 made me totally obsessed with Shakira, but I’m interested to see if Christina will turn her sour attitude from Season 3 around and finally be successful on this show. You’d think the rest of the coaches would learn something from Blake about how to push their team members in a non-suffocating way at this point, right? Usher did!

So, after all my complaining about how the Top 3 was incorrect, in the end…I think the right person won overall. Sure, I would’ve loved to see Amber Carrington or Sasha Allen take it all, too, but Danielle is totally deserving of this — and no doubt, she’ll be a country star!
