The 59-year-old lucked out after admitting he’d failed to pay New York State income taxes for 2008, 2009 and 2010: His plea bargain included no jail time, merely a bill for approximately $400,000 in back taxes, penalties and interest. “Unfortunately, I got some really bad suggestions and advice… from lawyers and accountants,” he said, according to BBC, adding that he “looked forward” to paying his restitution.

“The biggest thing I got from it was learning the value of time and how we often squander it,” the 63-year-old said to The Guardian of what he’d learned from his stint behind bars. In 2008, the Blade actor was sentenced to three years in prison and fined $5 million for willfully failing to file millions of dollars’ worth of tax returns. He was released in 2013, saying he refused to play the blame game. “No one forced me to take that person as my accountant; no one forced me to take that person as my lawyer… That was on me.”

The Chrisley Knows Best stars were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison for tax evasion and other charges in 2022. After Todd, 57, and Julia, 53, served a little more than two years, however, they were pardoned by President Donald Trump. Todd was unrepentant about his financial crimes. “Why am I not allowed to have the benefit of the fruits of our labor?” he told ABC News. “I don’t have an apology to give you or anyone else over the money that I’ve made.”

In 2025, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star abruptly cut off an interview when asked about tax liens against her and her second husband Luis Ruelas, 50, totaling more than $3 million. “In the words of one of our viewers, she evaded that question like… taxes,” the interviewer later joked, according to Page Six. During the investigation into financial crimes with the 53-year-old’s first husband, Joe Giudice,, 53, it was discovered, among other things, that the couple had not filed income tax returns for five years. In addition to her 15-month prison sentence, the couple were forced to pay more than $400,000 in fines and fees.

The Jersey Shore alum spent eight months in lockup and was ordered to pay $123,000 in restitution and a $10,000 criminal fine in 2019 after pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion. Now 10 years sober, the 43-year-old explained he’d lost control of his finances and never intended to cheat the tax man. “It came down to being uneducated, naïve, substance abuse,” he told Fox Business. “And when you combine all that, it’s definitely a situation.”
