Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen faced off in a court hearing on Tuesday, April 7, to decide on a temporary custody agreement amid an open domestic assault investigation involving both of them, stemming from an altercation between them in February.
Following that incident, Mortensen, 33, obtained a temporary restraining order against Paul, 31, in March, which resulted in a temporary loss of custody of their 2-year-old son, Ever.
During the hearing, Paul’s lawyer asked the judge if the parties could go back to the “status quo” and provided photos of bruises that she claimed were given to her by Mortensen.
But Mortensen asked that Paul only be allowed supervised visits with the child.
During the hearing, Ever was represented by a guardian ad litem, who stated that he was concerned about the Secret Lives of Mormon Wivesstar’s “volatility.”
The guardian ad litem also referenced a video in which Paul “shoved” Mortensen with “force” while holding Ever.
“At one point, it even appears in the video that [Mortensen] trips and almost falls over while he’s holding the child,” the guardian ad litem continued. “To me, that makes me very nervous about her ability to control herself and her volatility. The pushing and shoving starts, the child starts crying immediately and that doesn’t snap her out of it.”

He concluded by saying that he believes Paul “should have the skills to avoid these situations.”
The judge ultimately decided to continue the arrangement in which Paul only receives supervised visits with Ever until they return to court, which is expected to happen in approximately three weeks.
Earlier this year, filming was halted on season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives when Draper City Police confirmed to People that there was an open “domestic assault” investigation involving both Mortensen and Paul.
Later that same week, TMZ released footage of a brutal altercation between the exes that occurred in 2023 and resulted in Paul’s daughter, Indy, now 8, seemingly being struck with a metal chair that the reality star threw at Mortensen.
According to People, Paul filed for a temporary restraining order against Mortensen on Tuesday, April 7, and reportedly submitted photos of injuries sustained from a May 2025 altercation as well as “bruises on her forehead and knee” from the February incident.
